When to get checked

Worried about a changing mole or skin lesion?

Changes in moles and new skin lesions are common, but it can be difficult to tell what is normal and what needs further assessment. A specialist review can help provide clear guidance on next steps.

Consider booking if:

  • A mole has changed in size, shape or colour
  • The borders look irregular or uneven
  • The colour is varied or becoming darker
  • A mole becomes itchy, crusted or starts bleeding
  • A new lesion appears that looks different from others
  • You want reassurance about a mole or skin lesion

No. This is not an emergency service. If you have urgent symptoms, severe bleeding, rapid changes or feel seriously unwell, seek urgent medical advice.
