Same-Day Finger-Prick Blood Testing in Swindon: What to Expect

Want to check in on your health without waiting weeks for an appointment? Our same-day finger-prick blood testing at the Clive Parade pharmacy is a quick, simple way to get a snapshot of how your body is doing — with your results explained the same day. It's wellbeing screening, not a diagnosis, but it can be a helpful first step and a prompt to see your GP if something needs a closer look.

What is finger-prick blood testing?

Instead of a traditional blood draw from the arm, a finger-prick test takes a small sample from your fingertip — the same kind of sample used for everyday checks. It's quick, done in minutes, and most people find it easy.

Each test costs £39, and you'll have your results on the day of your appointment, talked through with you so you understand what they mean.

What we can test for

We offer a focused range of wellbeing checks. Which one is right for you depends on what you'd like to understand about your health — our team is happy to help you choose.

  • HbA1c — your average blood sugar over 2–3 months, a key marker for diabetes risk
  • Vitamin D — linked to bone health, energy and immunity
  • Ferritin — your iron stores, helpful if you feel tired or run down
  • Cortisol screening — your body's main stress hormone
  • HCG+ß — the hormone associated with pregnancy
  • Folate — important for energy and especially in pregnancy
  • Cholesterol — total cholesterol and blood fats, a marker for heart health

What to expect on the day

The whole thing is designed to be quick and low-stress.

  • Choose your test and a time that suits you, or message us on WhatsApp
  • A small finger-prick sample is taken in minutes at our Clive Parade pharmacy
  • Your results are explained clearly the same day, with advice on any next steps

Do I need to prepare?

It depends on the test. For some, such as cholesterol, we may ask you to avoid eating for a few hours beforehand — we'll let you know what's needed when you book. For most tests there's nothing special to do.

What your results mean

These tests are for wellbeing screening and give you a snapshot of your health — they are not a diagnosis. If a result suggests something worth looking into further, we'll always recommend speaking to your GP, and we'll explain why. Think of it as a useful prompt and a way to keep an eye on your health between GP visits.
